Pulmoll places the highest priority on carefully chosen ingredients and the quality of its products. It therefore goes without saying that our Pulmoll pastilles are produced almost exclusively with flavourings derived from nature and colourings.
Interesting facts about flavouringproduction Flavouring production can be traced back to the 4thcentury. Thefirstflavouringsand preservativesweresmoke, herbs and spices.Thefirstessential oilswerethendistilledasperfume andfragrances. The word ‘flavour’ originates from the Greek and is associated with three meanings: First of all the pleasant smell of food. Second, in the aromatherapy ethereal oils are referred to as flavour. Third ‘the flavour’ is known as the taste-imparting element for food. Naturalflavoursare found in the raw materials of vegetables oranimals. Whenit comes tofruits, the flavours are for example created in the normalmetabolism of the plant. The flavours onlyneed to be isolated in order to obtain them. To do this, for example theextraction process is used. With this method, specificsubstances areremoved fromthe natural raw materialmixture so thatonly the desiredsubstance (flavourings) remains. Naturalflavouringscanalso be obtainedthroughdistillation. The required flavourings need to be evaporated from the liquid mixture(fruitcomponent andsolvent) andcondensed afterwards (reflowed by cooling). Here the objective is also to separate the liquid from the solids contained within.
Interesting facts about colourings The colourings for ourpastilles are made with only dyesfrom plant extracts. In order to produce plant extracts, the required parts of the plantare dissolved ina solvent (water, oil, alcohol or organic solvents). Byextracting the resultingplantsolution, the componentsof the plantneededfor theextract areisolated andpurified through afiltration system. The filteredextract is then heated to produce the concentratedfinished product.
By using flavours and colours derived from nature, our Pulmoll pastilles are a perfect taste experience.
